I actually like how his P125 sounds more than my PX-S1000.But I wasn't a fan of the "mushiness" of the action or the slick key texture. It produces really rich/full sounds, which I prefer. My brother (similar experience level as me) has the Yamaha P125. I don't think either are a bad choice, though neither model you mentioned is perfect. It all really comes down to preference as well. I think when it comes to comparing different brands/models of a similar price point, you'll really just have to try them in person and get really acquainted with them, like /u/popkatopetl mentioned.
